FAVOURITE ALBUMS OF 2014

WOOHOO! I've been wanting to do this post for a while now. I'm just so excited to share with anyone reading this my favourite albums of 2014!

Lets get to it…

1989 - Taylor Swift

I was waiting for the release of this album for so long. I'm super proud -- no, I don't think proud is the word -- but so happy for Taylor as she had the bravery to branch out and completely change genres. I have fallen in love with the 80's inspired syntho-pop sound. It's so different & not something you'd usually here in 2014. I'm so glad that she took a risk and it paid off so well.
Favourite Song: Style -- Mainly because it's so obvious it's about the one and only, Harry Styles and plus, who doesn't want someone with that James Dean daydream in their eyes?

Sweet Talker - Jessie J

If you aren't already aware, Jessie J is probably my favourite solo female artist. The pure emotion that comes from her voice in every song shows she gives nothing less than 110%. This is her 3rd album and she just keeps getting better, though thats hard because she's already perfect! This record has a mix of upbeat, catchy tunes and raw, stripped back, from the heart songs. This is definitely an album for y'all to put on and keep on repeat for months!
Favourite Song: Masterpiece -- I think this is a great song that absolutely anyone and everyone can relate to at some point in their life. It's so honest and pretty much spells out that nobodies perfect but we all deserve to try our best.

X - Ed Sheeran

My most anticipated album of the year. The wonderful Ed has done it again. Whilst I don't prefer this album to + or say Songs I Wrote With Amy, it is still an absolutely amazing record. Nothing will ever beat his pure, heartfelt voice and his amazing skills with his trusty guitar. I do love this album so much though. His voice can always bring me to tears. Damn you Ed!
Favourite Song: Afire Love -- No words. This is an amazing, raw song and I will love it forever.

In The Lonely Hour - Sam Smith

Last, but not least. My favourite album of the year. The one and only, Sammy Smith. I honestly don't know what to say about this album -- it's pretty self explanatory. It's too amazing for words. Sam's voice pulls you into each and every song and makes you feel like he's right in front of you, giving you a private performance. His voice is so strong, deep, emotional & flawless. This has got to be THE album of the year, no doubt about it.
Favourite Song: every single one of them. Impossible to not like a song from this record.

All in all, there have bee some amazing albums that have been produced this year. There have been so many new artists on the scene, so these guys have done extremely well to keep their popularity up. Although, it's not that hard 'coz they're all pretty perfect.

Ciao X

FALL OUT BOY, A NAKED PETE WENTZ & MEXICAN WAVES!

SO, the night before the one direction concert, I went and saw one of my all time favourite bands Fall Out Boy. I was so so so so excited and absolutely could not wait. They were playing at my favourite venue; Sydney Entertainment Centre. Before the show we went and had dinner at The Pump House in darling harbour, which I highly recommend, and because we loved the food so much we decided to skip the support act...I honestly can't even remember who they were. oops.

Anyways, we go inside, jump in or seats and wait for the show to start. The lights dimmed and me and my friends went mental! No crying though, I promise. It was extremely cool; Pat, Pete, Andy & Joe all came out wearing balaclavas and they opened with Phoenix which I thought was an excellent choice; it got the crowd pumping and really set the standard for the rest of the night.

The one thing I loved about this show was the mosh. It wasn't like the mosh at Ed Sheeran and other shows; it was nowhere near as hectic. They were just people there because they had a love for the music and everyone got that. There was no extreme shoving or people being pulled out because they were being crushed...it was just awesome.

I would also love to give big props to the FOB boys because of how well they connected with us crowd. They were a band who genuinely appreciated us and the fact that we were there for them and they were there for us. They were so fun and energetic and their stage presence was extremely uplifting.

All throughout the night, the rest of the boys would go off and pete would stay on and entertain us. One time he got us to do the mexican wave and most of the other times he would just have fun or give us a really inspirational speech about not caring about what anyone else thinks and just putting the finger up and saying FUCK YOU.

They also had these really awesome, huge black FOB balloons that dropped from the ceiling when they played Young Volcanoes.

What surprised me the most was that they too had a Bstage. This stage is where they performed any acoustic songs they wished to play. We had an extremely good view and it was very raw, stripped back & up close and personal, not to mention intimate. It was great to see them show a more honest and deeper side to their performances.

My favourite part of the night was definitely towards the end where Pete was signing and knelt down and got extremely close to the stage. It was at this moment when everyone in the front of the mosh decided it would be a fabulous idea to rip and tear pete's shirt to shreds. He was then left on the stage bare chested and no doubt bright red. he may have enjoyed it, I dunno. But I certainly was not complaining...noooo way.

All in all, I had a fantastic night thanks to these boys. I have loved this band since I was about 11 years old and it was an absolute honour to be able to see them in concert.

ONE DIRECTION MADE ME CRY ALL NIGHT!

Ah so. Back in october 2013, I went to see the one and only One Direction at Allphones Arena in beautiful sydney. To be quite honest, I wasn't actually as excited as I should have been, or at least thats what I remember. Maybe it was because I was still on a high from seeing Fall Out Boy the night before? (that post is on its way!). Anyway, I just don't think the reality had set in yet that I was going to be seeing the boys, now men, who had been my biggest crushes for the past 3 or so years.

We checked into our hotel and we immediately went down and got merch before it got busy. Im not going to lie, I actually bought more 5SOS merch than I did 1D merch. oops. But there was a lot of merch to choose from, I just couldn't decide....they even had onesies! We went back and got ready and then the time came, the time to head to arena and take our seats ready for the show.

As you're probably aware, the support act was none other than 5 Seconds of Summer, or 5SOS. If you don't know who they are, which if you don't, have you been living under a rock, they are an Australian band made up of the wonderfully handsome Luke Hemmings, Ashton Iriwn, Michael Clifford & Calum Hood. Their genre could probably be called pop/punk/rock and it is extremely good! Anyways, I was extremely pumped to see these boys for the second time in concert and as the lights dimmed the whole arena screamed. I don't think I've heard anything so loud. I eventually joined in and nearly cried.

As soon as they came on stage they had us up and out of our seats dancing and singing along. They really know how to control a crowd and keep people entertained and wanting more. From memory, I believe the song they opened with was Out Of My Limit which was one of their first songs I fell in love with!

This was back when Michael dyed his hair bright pink! It was so vibrant and he definitely wasn't hard to miss when he was jumping around, enjoying himself on stage.

Even though their entire stage setting was pretty dull, that certainly did not matter. Their energy, talent and passion lit up that stage better than any set would. I have watched these boys grow and develop into a well oiled band over the years. They deserve nothing but the best and everyone better prepare for their world domination.

Now for the main event. After 5SOS left, the lights came back on and the suspense and anticipation was killing me. The lights later dimmer and thats when it hit me. I would be seeing THE Harry, Louis, Niall, Liam & Zayn live and in the flesh right now. First they had a little intro video playing and i had already lost it. I was balling my eyes out and for no other reason than I was like "omg this isn't real". Then they all jumped on stage and started singing one of my favourites of theirs: Up All Night.

Now, I did try my best to get good photos in-between crying my eyes out and singing.

They were there to entertain us and they went above and beyond. I did not sit down once the entire night. You would not have guessed that these lads have only have only been in the business 3 years and only done 2 tours. They were naturals. Their stage presence was so great it was over whelming. They knew exactly how to connect with the crowd and get us to do whatever they wanted!

Now this is the part where I absolutely lost it. As soon and the boys landed on the B stage and they were running around down below me, I could not control my tears. They flowed and flowed and did not stop the entire time and just when I thought I had gotten a grip, Harry waved at my section and I was gone again! Pathetic, right?

I absolutely love those 2 photos because it kinda just shows the kookiness of the boys and how they're not afraid to just YOLO it up (can't believe I just said that) and do whatever the hell they want on stage. They were so fun to watch and they looked like they genuinely enjoyed being onstage and connecting with us, not like many other people who get on, do what they gotta do and leave.

This is definitely my favourite photo of the night. Oh Niall, ILY!

Take a guess at what you think they closed with? If you guessed WMYB, you guessed correct. They had all changed outfits and popped back up onstage to bid us farewell. It was a great end to a fabulous night. There was huge balloons thats changed colour and confetti. It was brilliant. They really knew how to go out with a bang.

All in all, I had one hell of a fantastic night and it is definitely one I will never forget. Thanks 1D and 5SOS.
